After reading a little newsletter email I got from Danielle LaPorte about the apps her team uses, I was reminded of the power of using my devices that are often with me to make my writing life more convenient.
Enter: the voice note experiment.
Of course, I didn’t just jump straight in to dictating my thoughts to my iPad. The reminder and the actual action didn’t click into place until one day last week I was in the kitchen with my hands covered in something-that-was-supposed-to-turn-out-yummy and I had a brilliant thought which I’d have loved to write down/type out at that moment but couldn’t because I was covered in hatching yumminess.
And that was the moment that it all clicked.
So I immediately grabbed the iPad (using mostly my wrists, elbows and forearms–I know, looks crazy in your head because it did look completely crazy in real life) and started taking a video. Of my voice. Because I don’t know how to do voice dictation on my iPad yet, but gosh darn it do I know how to record video with that baby.
So, to make a long story short, here is the first of (maybe) many voice posts (podcasts?) to come. Let me know what you think.
